Arthur C. Peterson was born to parents Carl (Charley) and Matea Peterson on June 10, 1897 in Meeker County.  Charley and Matea were both Swedish immigrants. He had sisters Signe, Jemi, Minnie and Florence and brothers Albin, Wiliam and Martin. He moved with his family to Columbia Township in Polk County where his father farmed.

He was working for Bergerding Lumber Company in Bagley when he registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. He enlisted in the Army on July 6, 1942 and was released February 16, 1943. He never married.

Art died May 27, 1976 and is buried in the Bagley City Cemetery.
