Bert Orben Good
Bert Orben Good was born September 17, 1920 in Neptune, Minnesota (on the Red Lake Reservation) to Wayne and Hilma Mostrom Good. He grew up in Neptune and attended the Red Lake Government Boarding School and Little Oak Country School. He was an honorary graduate of Red Lake High School in 1990.
Bert entered the Army on November 7, 1942 and was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic and advanced training. He served with C Company, 31st Battalion, 7th Armored Division (Lucky 7) whose motto was “Hell on Wheels.” He served in the European, African and Middle East Campaigns. Bert received an honorable discharge on December 10, 1945 at war’s end.
Bert passed away on March 9, 2008 and is buried in Fort Snelling in Minneapolis.
