Clifford Neil Marshall was born November 10, 1945 in Bagley to Earl and Sophie Hendrickson Marshall of Holst Township. Earl was a North Dakota native who moved to this area in 1920 and married Sophie Hendrickson on December 22, 1930. Earl and Sophie had three daughters: Dorothy, Edith and Irene and four sons: Donald, Clifford, Harvey and Arlen.
Clifford grew up on their farm six miles north of Bagley. He attended Bagley High School and entered the Army in 1966. He was trained in artillery and sent to Vietnam, where he earned a purple heart. PFC Marshall was discharged in 1967 after finishing his tour.
On November 24, 1990 he married Violet Marian Putbrese in Kenosha, Wisconsin and they made their home in Grand Marsh. Harvey died September 19th, 2016, leaving children Jerry, Donald and Dan Marshall and Sandi Felske. He is buried in Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
