CSM Daniel C. Essig

Daniel C. Essig was born April 2, 1959 in Jamestown, North Dakota to parents Douglas and Diane Essig. He grew up in the Gonvick/Fosston/Shevlin areas. He attended elementary school at Gonvick and Fosston and graduated with the Bagley High School class of 1977. 

Daniel entered the Army July 25, 1977 and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic training. He received an Honorable discharge in 1981, then enlisted in the National Guard. Throughout his career he had duty at Fort Benning, Georgia, Camp Ripley, MN, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Fort Lewis, Washington, Fort Bliss, Texas, Germany, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Camp Hovey, South Korea, Phoenix, Arizona, Bemidji, MN, Moorhead,MN, Anbar Province, Iraq, Bosnia, Kuwait, Duluth, MN, and Inver Grove Heights, MN. His military specialty was Airborne Infantry and Cavalry. He was attached to 325th AIR, 82nd AD, 38th IR, 2nd ID, 258th Eng. Bn, 34th Inf. Div., DHHB, 34th Inf. Division. He was released from active duty with the Guards on December 31, 2015.

He currently resides in Deer River, Minnesota.
