Donald “Pete” Hoie

Donald “Pete” Hoie was born February 3, 1949 in Bagley to Orville and Lois Bruun Hoie. He grew up in Nora Township and attended Bagley schools. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1967.

Pete joined the Marines on May 20, 1968 and was sent to San Diego for basic training. He was then sent to Camp Pendleton, California for advanced training in Food Service. He was sent to Vietnam with the Mag 39 Air Wing. Because there was no food service there, he spent most of his duty doing mechanic work on helicopters. When he left Vietnam he was sent to three month’s duty in Okinawa. He completed his stint at Quantico, Virginia, the FBI training base. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 20, 1970. 

Pete currently lives in Nora Township.
