Duane W. Bergeson was born May 23, 1932 in Winsor Township, Clearwater County, to Walter R. and Dorothy A. Bergeson. He grew up in Clearwater County and graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Northwest School of Agriculture on March 25, 1949. 

Duane entered active service in the Army on April 22, 1953 and served until April 21, 1955 at which time he transferred to the Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged from the Reserves on April 30, 1961.

Duane passed away on June 11, 1979 and is buried in Silver Creek Cemetery, Clearwater County, Minnesota.
