Edwin T. Thoreson

Edwin T. Thoreson was born February 10, 1909 in Nelson County, North Dakota to Oscar and Marit Storbelken Erickson Thoreson. Edwin grew up in Leonard, raised by his Aunt Betsy Thoreson Larson after his mother died when he was about two.

Edwin joined the Army Infantry in WWII and spent time in Germany. He was a staff sergeant working in communications with “The Wolves.” He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

Edwin passed away April 9, 1983 and is buried in Norway Lake Cemetery near Leonard.
