Eugene Beltz Jr.

Eugene M. Beltz Jr. was born August 25, 1923 in Buxton, North Dakota to parents Helen and Eugene Sr. Beltz. His family moved to Bagley, Minnesota in 1928 and he grew up in that area. He attended Bagley Elementary and graduated from Bagley High School in 1942.

Eugene entered the Navy on January 19, 1942, just a month after the bombing at Pearl Harbor. He was sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois for boot camp. He served in North Africa and Lakehurst, New Jersey until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1946.

After the war Eugene worked at the Farmer’s Independent as a printer and after his father’s retirement in 1968 he became editor. He retired in 1985.  

Eugene passed away on September 26, 2002 and is buried in the Bagley City Cemetery.
