Frankie John Benesh was born August 6, 1928 in Shevlin to Fred and Annie Benesh.  He grew up in Alida and attended Alida Country School. 

He entered the Army on July 24, 1952 and was sent to Fort Sheridan, Illinois for basic training, followed by a stint at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for infantry training. He was then sent to Korea with Co. F, 19th Infantry Regiment, US Army Reserve Infantry. He received the Korean Service Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Frankie was discharged July 19, 1954.

He presently lives in Bagley.
