George Lynn Kirkeby was born Occtober 6, 1920 in Drayton, North Dakota to Hilmen and Luella Herman Kirkeby.   He attended rural school in Walsh County, North Dakota.

George enlisted in the Navy in 1943. After training he was sent to the Naval Supply Depot in New Caledonia in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge in 1946.

George passed away on December 22, 2000 and is buried in Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery near Shevlin.
