Harold “Bob” Hanse was born May 25, 1924 in Hancock, Minnesota to William M. and Gertrude A. Hanse. He grew up in the Hancock area and attended rural Hancock schools.

Bob joined the Merchant Marines during WWII and served aboard ship with ports in India and South America. 

Bob passed away on October 22, 2206 and is buried in Alida Cemetery.
