James W. Erickson

James W. Erickson was born August 19, 1932 at Lake Lillian, Minnesota to parents Carl and Hazel Erickson. He attended school at Lake Lillian.

James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on August 25, 1949 and was sent to Lackland Air Base for basic training. He attended advanced training at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois to be an Air Propeller Mechanic.  He was sent to Portugal with the 3497th Mobile Training Squadron. He received an honorable discharge on November 7, 1952. 

He enjoyed civilian life for less than a year when he joined the Marines Corps on July 1, 1953. He was sent to Camp Pendleton for boot camp and advanced training as an infantryman. He was sent with the 1st Battalion, 1st Infantry to Korea aboard the USS Los Angeles. He received an honorable  discharge on April 28, 1955.

The very next day James joined the Navy.  He was sent to Pensacola Naval Air Station where he trained as a Propeller Pilot. He received an honorable discharge on November 16, 1955. 

James died on June 25, 1984 and is buried in the Bagley City Cemetery.
