Jerold Dale Johnson was born October 23, 1940 at home in Leon Township to parents Clarence and Dora Johnson. He grew up in the Clearbrook area and attended school there, graduating in 1959. 

He joined the Army in 1960 and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood for basic and advanced training in motor vehicles.  From there he went to Vietnam. He was honorable discharged in 1963.

Jerold died January 25, 2011 and is buried in Friendship Cemetery in Leon Township.
