John Darrel Johnson

Johnnie Darrel Johnson was born August 14, 1938 in Leon Township to parents Clarence and Dora Johnson. He grew up in the Clearbrook area and attended Beard School northeast of Clearbrook. He had six sisters and five brothers.

Johnnie joined the Army in 1956. He was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training and received advanced training as a military policeman at Fort Benning. He was attached to the 82nd Airborne.

Johnnie married Ruth Ann Thompson on August 18, 1962 and they had children Brian, Olivia, Brenda, Sven, Maya and Renata.

Johnnie and Ruth lived in Blaine, Minnesota and at the time of Johnnie’s death on May 7, 2013 he was the Union Vice President of Transit Union Local #1005.

Johnnie is buried in Section 28, Site 1230 of Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
