Marcell L. Goodwin was born November 24, 1935 in White Earth, Minnesota to parents Thomas and Bessie Goodwin. He grew up in the Bagley/Rice Lake area.

He joined the Navy January 25, 1955 and took basic training
in Great Lakes, then advanced fireman training in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a Fireman 3^rd class aboard the aircraft carriers USS Randolph (CVA 15) and the USS Valley Forge (CVS 15). His ports of call were Puerto Rico, Norfolk, Boston, Gibraltar, Sicily, New York, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Cuba and Portugal. He participated in a Mediterranean cruise in 1956. He was discharged from the Navy on January 12, 1959, then spent four years in the Navy Reserves.

He married Janice McDougall in 1958 and had sons Michael and
Patrick and a daughter Gloria. The Goodwins live in Ebro.

He is currently an inpatient at the Mahnomen Nursing Home.
