Marvin O. Stavig was born December 1, 1929 in Bagley to Bennie and Mabel Stavig. He grew up in rural Bagley and attended Minnow Lake School. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1947. 

Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 4, 1949 and was sent to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas for basic training.  With the MOS of Administration, he was then sent to Warren Air Base near Cheyenne, Wyoming; Scott Air Base near Belleville, Illinois; Brooks Air Base, San Antonio, Texas; Lackland Air Base, San Antonio, Texas and Parks Air Base (Camp Parks) in Pleasanton, California.  S/Sgt Stavig was with HQ 3225 Air Force Indoctrination Wing. Marvin received an honorable discharge on October 1, 1952.

He currently lives in Minneapolis.
