Milton D. Knutson

Milton D. Knutson was born July 19, 1936 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Obin and Mabel Knutson. He grew up in Warren and Bagley, attending elementary school in Warren and graduating from Bagley High School in 1954.

Milton joined the Navy in November, 1954 and was sent to Great Lakes, Illinois for boot camp. After boot he attended Machinist Mate school, also located in Great Lakes. Milton spent 22 years in the Navy, with service aboard the USS Hancock (CVA-19) (April 55- November 58,) USS Epperson (DDE-719) (November 58 to August 62,) USS Cowell (DD-547) (January 63 to July 66,) and the USS Passumpsic (AO-107) from November 1966- September 1968. Following that, Milton served aboard the USS Manatee (AO-58) (July 71-August 73,) USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) from September, 1973 to October 1975, and then he ran the brig at CORRCEN Great Lakes from November 1975 to December, 1976. He received an honorable discharge December 13, 1976.

Milton passed away October 5, 2011 and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lake Itasca.
