Norman Netland was born on September 3, 1915 in Bagley, Minnesota to Andrew and Lena Netland.  He grew up in the Bagley area and attended school through grade 8 at District 17 school in Nora Township. 

He enlisted in the Army on April 13, 1945 during WWII and rose to the rank of Tech 5. He spent his enlistment in post-war Japan and was discharged on August 8, 1946. 

Norman passed away on October 31, 2002 and is buried in Nora Township Cemetery.
