Owen Leroy Ness

Owen Leroy Alden Ness was born on February 4, 1931 in Windsor Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota, the oldest of five sons of Boyd and Alice (Rud) Ness.  He attended the Winsor country school and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1949.

 He joined the United States Air Force on April 11, 1952 during the Korean War.  He went to Basic Training at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.  He was part of the 506th Strategic  Flight Wing in Japan. 

After that he traveled to Bermuda, Loring AFB in Bangor, Maine and ended his military career as part of the 506th Field Maintenance at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma.  

 As a general electrician, he was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on April 10, 1956. 

While stationed in Maine, he married Louise Miller in 1954.  After being discharged from the service, he moved to Silver Bay, Minnesota where he worked as an electrician for Reserve Mining and later for North Shore Mining, retiring in 1998. 

He collected guns and liked to go to gun shows and estate sales.  He was a legionnaire in Silver Bay, and then a member of the Irvin Blix Post #16 in Bagley. 

He passed away November 16, 2007 and is buried at Samhold Lutheran Cemetery in Gonvick, Minnesota.  

He is survived by his children:  Steve, Mark, Cheryl, Scott and Tracy.
