Reuben Maloy Bergquist was born July 6, 1918 in Alida, Minnesota to John and Marie Bergquist. He grew up in Bear Creek Township and attended school there.

Reuben entered the Army on October 9, 1942. He received an honorable discharge on November 5, 1945.

Reuben was a past commander of the American Legion Post in Bagley.

Reuben died July 17, 1980 and is buried in Bagley City Cemetery.
