Ronald D. Newland was born June 22, 1942 in Bagley, Minnesota to Charles E. and Rose Disen Newland. He grew up in Minerva Township and attended elementary school in Minerva. He graduated from Bagley High School with the class of 1960.

Ronald entered the Air Force on February 1, 1961 and was sent to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for basic training. He received advanced training in CAFAC:64350A, fuels specialist at Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of the 49th TAC Fighter Wing and was stationed in Spangdahlem, Germany (TDY to Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany.) Ronald was discharged to the inactive reserve on July 15, 1964 and honorably discharged from the inactive reserve on Junuary 31, 1967.

Ronald presently lives in Fridley, Minnesota.
