Samantha Fay Theis was born November 1, 1986 in Bemidji to Tim and Jandi (Bellefy) Theis. She grew up in Bagley and went to Bagley schools. She graduated from Bagley High School in 2005.

Samantha enlisted in the Navy on June 21, 2006. She was sent to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois for boot camp. She then went to Gulfport, Mississippi to the Navy Construction Battalion Center to training as a steelworker  – Seabee. After training Samantha was sent to Amphibious Construction Battalion One (ACB-1) in Coronado, California for duty. The unit’s primary mission was to provide Ship to Shore transport of combat cargo, bulk fuel and water and tactical camp operations supporting Amphibious Ready Group, Marine Expeditionary Force, Brigade-sized operations, Combined/Joint Logistics Over the Shore and Maritime Prepositioning Force Operations. She received an honorable discharge on June 20, 2011.

Samantha presently lives in San Diego, California.
