Troy A. Knutson was born August 21, 1968 in Compton, California to Milton and Delores Knutson. He grew up in Lake Itasca, Minnesota and attended Bagley schools, graduating in 1987. 

Troy enlisted in the US Navy on December 14th, 1987 and was sent to Great Lakes, Illinois for boot camp. He then attended training to be an electrician’s mate at Great Lakes as well. Following training he served aboard the USS Ranger (CV-61) and at Naval Air Station, Coronado, California with E-Division. Troy received an honorable discharge on December 13, 1991. 

Troy presently resides in Gypsum, Colorado.
