Vernon Francis Theis was born October 20, 1927 at Bagley to Alois and Mayme Nelson Theis. He grew up in Popple Township and attended Bagley High School. 

Vernon joined the Army on December 18, 1945. After training he was sent to Washington D C for duty as a military policeman. He received an honorable discharge on July 26, 1947.

Vernon lived in Bagley until moving to Neilson Place in Bemidji in 2014 until his death November 2, 2018. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bagley.
