Wayne R. Traaseth was born July 12, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota to Peter and Alma Traaseth. He grew up in the Shevlin area and attended Shevlin school. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1960. 

Wayne enlisted in the Air Force in July, 1961.  He was sent to Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas for basic training. He received additional training in communications and air traffic control at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After training he was stationed at Glasgow, Montana and Grand Forks, North Dakota. He received an honorable discharge in July of 1965.

Wayne currently lives in Elk River, Minnesota.
