Adolph Laine Bjerke was born December 29, 1892 in Clay County, Minnesota to Olaus and Hanna Marie Hanson Bjerke. He grew up in Clearbrook.

Adolph entered the Army on July 26, 1918 and was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic and advanced training. He was sent overseas with Headquarters Company, 54th Pioneer Infantry, 12th Infantry Brigarde, 6th Infantry Division. He served in Alsace and Meuse-Argonne, France. Adolph received an honorable discharge on July 3, 1919.

Adolph died on June 24, 1953 and is buried in Seljord Cemetery near Clearbrook.
