Jeffery “Jack” Boe

Jeffery “Jack” Boe was born August 14, 1919 in Mahnomen, Minnesota to Christ and Julia Boe. He grew up in the Bagley area.

Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 17, 1944 and was sent to Farragut, Idaho for boot camp. He received advanced training in weapons repair at Farragut as well. Jack was stationed aboard the USS Tucson (CL-98), a light cruiser commissioned in San Francisco. The Tucson was assigned to screening duty for Fast Carrier Task Force, TF-38. It participated in the final assault on the Japanese Empire and its inner defenses. Jack was in Japan when the peace treaty ending WWII was signed on the USS Missouri. Jack was honorably discharged on January 20, 1946.

Jack passed away August 19, 1968 and is buried in Bagley City Cemetery.
