Joe Matson Boon was born July 13, 1943 in Basset, Nebraska to Job and Ruth Boon. He lived in Newport, Nebraska until 1956 then moved to the Bagley area. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1961.

Joe enlisted in the Navy December 26, 1961 and was sent to San Diego, California for boot camp. He took advanced training in aviation metalsmithing and was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station and on board the USS Constellation, attached to VF-143s (the Pukin’ Dogs) from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. Joe was discharged December 26, 1965. 

He presently lives near Shevlin, Minnesota.
